# Testing

Use these numbers during development and in automated tests. Messages to them are never sent and don't appear in your account.

| Number | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| `61491578888` | Accepted as a normal message and returned in `data.messages`, but not saved or sent. |
| `61491570156` | Rejected as an invalid number (`INVALID_RECIPIENT`). |
| `61491570157` | Rejected as opted out (`RECIPIENT_OPTED_OUT`). |

You can pass them with or without the leading `+`.

> **Tip**
>
> Use a separate account for integration tests, so test traffic and API keys stay apart from production.

## Dry runs

To validate real recipients without sending, use the dry run endpoint. It accepts the same body as [Send SMS](/api/sms/send/) and returns the same response, but nothing is sent or charged. See [Dry run](/guides/sending-messages/#dry-run).
